What's Art-A-Whirl All About?
If you're not familiar with Art-A-Whirl (or just need a little refresher), it's basically the coolest art event in Northeast Minneapolis. What started back in 1995 as a small group of artists opening their studio doors to the public has blossomed into a massive neighborhood-wide celebration that draws tens of thousands of visitors each year.
The Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) has been running this incredible three-day event since 1997, transforming neglected factory buildings into thriving creative spaces. With over 1,600 members today—including artists, students, galleries, businesses, and community friends—NEMAA has helped establish the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District as a cultural hub of the city.
Art-A-Whirl gives you the chance to connect directly with hundreds of artists through studio tours, live demonstrations, and interactive activities. It's not just about viewing art; it's about experiencing the creative process first-hand and being part of a community that celebrates creativity in all its forms.
